Paris (I Can Dream, Can't I?)

Hello!!

Shea here!  Today's card is a "just because" kind of card that I've made using the ever delightful Creative Inspirations paints.  I love, love, LOVE them, and one of my favorite ways to use them is the marbled background technique, which you can find here.  It is my new favorite technique and I've already done it several times.

This time I've used Tutu Pink, Mellow Yellow and Pink Highlights, the last of which is interesting because it looks ivory until you turn it towards the light, then the shimmery pink shows up.

I had to photograph the card at a couple of different angles to try to capture the shimmery goodness.  See that slight pink?

Here's another closeup.  You can see more of the pink down there to the right.  I really wish I could have a video within a picture so I could move the card around and show you the shimmer.  It is a fascinating way to create an interesting background that can pretty much stand on its own.

And that, dear friends, is today's card.  Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you play with your paints today!  What?  You don't have any?  You need to hie yourself over to Creative Inspirations then and GET some.

And while we're at it, don't forget to visit the Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog to join in the fun.  You DON'T need to have CI Paints to play, either.  This fortnight's challenge is Mother's Day.

Happy crafting!

House Mouse Meets the Color Wheel

Hi there. Beth Norman here with a quick tutorial for you. In keeping with this week's challenge, I picked my scallop die as my favorite. I like it because it is easy to use, unlike some of the intricate dies.

This image was so fun to color (with my Copics), and paint with Creative Inspirations paint. Because the bubblegum was painted, the shiny outside looks just like real bubblegum--good enough to chew. How fun for the recipient of my card.

On the inside I stamped, "You Make Me Smile All Over My Face" from Inkadinkado. My main image is from House Mouse stamps.

To choose my papers, I turned to my color wheel. The Web Wheel has so many colors to choose from on the wheel. Although this wheel is made for beaders, scrapbookers and cardmakers can find this useful as well.

I used the color wheel to determine what colors worked well together on this mat.

Continue to use the color wheel to pick more colors.

The color wheel is a handy tool and a must have in my studio.

C.I. Smoosh Tutorial

Good morning, Beth Norman here with a tutorial for you. I love seeing what can be done with C.I. paints, don't you? With a little water and watercolor paper, you will create a beautiful background that can be used in so many ways.

Supplies:

C.I. Paints
Watercolor Paper
Water
Non-Stick Craft Sheet

Drop C.I. paints onto a non-stick craft sheet. Place colors a little apart so they don't get muddy in the next step. Use as many colors as you like.

Using water, saturate the C.I. paint.

Smoosh watercolor paper directly into C.I. damped paint and twist and turn your paper to create a smooshing effect.

Close up.

A Little Bit of Fun

Hey everybody. This week's Inspired By is all about Bright Colours. I don't know about you, but I think bright colours are FUN, so that's the theme of this little ATC I made. I already had a little piece with a yellow background that I'd painted some time ago, just as a base, waiting for a future project. So I took a mask and painted some gorgeous Aqua Marine over the top. Then I randomly stamped a cute flower in Tickled Pink, so it really sparkles!
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Fun Fold Paper Bag Album

Last week's Inspired By was all about fun fold cards. I don't have a card, but I do have a lunch bag photo album. This week's challenge is all about bright colours so my brightly colored lunch bag album fits in perfectly.

All of my embellishments were painted with Creative Inspirations paint. I used Pixie Dust on the corner circles, and Bright Yellow on the center of my flower. (By the way, this photo was taken 23 years ago. My babies are now out of the house)

Here you can see a close up of my embellisments.

Thank you for stopping by.

One of these things is not like the others: Inspired by being different!

This week, the challenge  is “One of these things is not like the others.”  Inspired by being different.  I chose to alter a few bottles and fill them with Halloween Potions!  I’ve used Burnt Clay, Raw Sienna and Coal to decorate my jars.  I thought it would be fun just to drizzle a bit of the Coal inside the bottle that holds bones.  The Burnt Clay and Raw Sienna have some water added.  Can you tell which is different??  Hope you get a chance to join in on a fun challenge :)
