Shimmer Flowers

Hello!

Shea here with my very first project for you!  Today's card features some fun flowers that I made using several colors of CI Paints and the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die.

Normally I like to use lots of texture and patterns, not to mention glitter and bling, on my cards but this flower is so colorful and shimmery that I decided to let it stand alone (almost).  It was so much fun!

First I die cut all of the pieces several times each out of patterned CS, then I sprayed them with water and scrunched them to give them, well, a tattered look.  They are very fragile at this stage and easily torn, as you can see on the green flower with the long, thin petals.  Not a problem, the torn off petal can be attached later.

I painted them with multiple layers of paints, first with Tutu Pink around the centers, then Sky Blue, Mellow Yellow, and Sage for the appropriate colored layers.

Then I layered them, centering them with a pearl.  See how the patterned papers show through the layers of paint?

Here's one closeup showing the shimmery goodness...

...and another closeup showing the patterns.

And that was all there was to it!  I have lots of flowers left over for future projects as I got a little carried away while making them.

The rest of the card was simple.  A quick run through the Big Shot for the base layer with a dot embossing folder, a simple sentiment enhanced with pearls from my stash, and some Metallic Inspirations matte brads finish this simple, yet still colorful card.

Thank you so much for joining me and I hope we see you over at our latest CI Challenge, the theme of which is Anything Goes!

Happy crafting!

Altered Large Clothespins

Good morning crafty friends!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter with your family and friends!!  I had such a blast with the kids!!

Anyway, on to today's post!

I am so excited to share this post with you!!  I'll be giving you a sneak peek of a NEW product you will be able to order soon!!

YAY!!

During a recent shopping trip with my friend I found these large clothespins, that I thought would be fun to alter with Creative Inspiration Paints!!  My kids love crafting with me and well our fridge can only hold so much, plus I love having some of their art work in my craft room, so I thought these would be fun to hold a few of their little things they've created for me.  And I could keep them right on my craft table to see at all times.

For the pink one, I used Blush as the main color!  And then used bubble wrap to create the fun texture with Plum!
I really like how it turned out, especially with the added Crinkle Ribbon, flowers and gems!!

The sparkle is beautiful!!

For the blue one I used Turquoise! My son's favorite color!

I wasn't sure how to decorate his, as I didn't want to make it too girly!

So I decided to add some Crinkle Ribbon along with a charm I created!

I cut out a tiny circle on my Cricut and then stamped the tiny "smile" sentiment, as I thought it would be perfect, since their artwork always makes me smile!!

I set the circle into the charm and then used our NEW product to finish it up!! ;)
So that's a sneak peek for you!!

Oh so exciting!!!

This is the first thing I created with it and I loved it!!  Took a little experimenting, but was so fun!!

Close-up of the shimmer and the Metallic Inspirations in Matt Blue that I used.

And lastly a look at them displaying some of their little art work:

We sure hope you are excited about the new product being released, we think you will have a fun time using it and can't wait to see what all of you will do with it!!

Our current challenge is Anything Goes, join in we'd love to see what you create!

Have a shimmery day!!

Paper bag - Kianel

Hello dear Creative Inspirations paints lovers,
Kianel here with you today with the finished project i showed you last time using the new embossing powders and glitters from Creative Inspirations paints. Those are absolutely awesome so don't loose any minute now and go there to check them out.

I made a paperbag where i used many dies and many Creative Inspirations paints products: Paint, metallic inspirations, glitters and embossing powder!
I used the Creative Inspirations Paint called "burgundy" to cover all the letters of my title.

The adorable stamp from magnolia is coloured with distress ink and all the stripes are filled with Creative Inspirations Resplendensce glitter burgundy.

The bow is made using the marvellous Super Sparkle pink Deliquesce embossing powder which is a 2 tone embossing powder with a stunning effect.

There i chose to cover the bottom of my flower with the Resplendence Angel dust glitter.
The butterfly is decorated using the beautiful Metallic Inspirations matt purple.
And on all the borders of my patterned paper i used Deliquesce white embossing powder which gives a winter note and a used style to the paper.

The stamp and the patterned paper are from Magnolia. All the dies are from Cheery Lynn designs and the other decorations are coming from a french online shop.
I hope you will like that paper bag as much as i enjoyed creating it and don't hesitate to come and join us for our weekly challenge every sunday for a chance to win some beautiful Creative Inspirations products!
Love from France, Kianel.

charming...

Hello everyone!

Me again with a fun way to make customizable charms.

Way back in March, I did a tutorial on alterable jewelry.  Well, as I was making those bracelets, I ended up taking one link off each to make them smaller. I kept those extra links in hopes of finding some fun way to use them. This week I needed a charm for a mini album, and I remembered these extra links....

Here's what you need:
Alterable Jewelry*
Clear Embossing Powder
Metal Pan (heat safe, not for food!)
Non-stick craft sheet
Tweezers
Metallic Accents
Flowers (or other flat things to embed)
Stove (or Ranger Melting Pot)

*I am using a "Keepsake Bracelet" made for putting photos in. I found it at a variety store for about $2.00, I have also seen this kind of thing in the clay isle of craft stores.

Step 1: Cut a piece of non-stick craft sheet to fit in your metal pan. (I'm using a cheap metal tin meant for party favors, but it has a flat bottom and holds up to the heat.)

Step 2: Figure out how you want to arrange your decorations. I'm using tiny paper flowers and Metallic Inspirations.

Step 3: Once you know how you are going to arrange things, place your charm in your pan and turn on your burner to LOW.  (each stove is different, so experiment, however if it is too hot, the powder will burn.)  The Ranger Melting Pot is specifically made for melting embossing powders, so if you have it, use it instead of the stove.

Step 4: Once the charm is warm, sprinkle on a little clear embossing powder. Allow it to melt, then add more until you have a thin layer across the entire bottom of your charm.

Step 5: Using your tweezers, carefully place in your embellishments.

(if layering embellishments, add a thin layer of embossing powder between elements to fuse them together.)

Step 6: for extra bling, add  Metallic Accents. (you can use rhinestone, but they will stick out. The beauty of using Metallic Accents is they add the bling element without adding hight!!!)

Step 7: Add a layer of embossing powder over the whole collage to seal it all in, and remove from heat.

*ALLOW TO COOL before handling!!! Don't get burnt!!!!!

This would look fabulous as part of a bracelet, but I'm going to cut one of the loops off and use it as a charm.

So, there's a fun new way to use Metallic Accents in your crafting!

Enjoy!

think thin...

Hey guys!

wanna know something fun?
The new Metallic Inspirations  are only as thick as about 2 sheets of card stock. Yup, I measured. =)  So for those of you who want to add a little bling without the bulk, these are a great option!

Enjoy!

custom transfers...

I don't know about you, but I love the rhinestone, rhinestud, and nailhead transfer designs that can be seen everywhere from clothes to scrapbooks!  Have you ever wished that you could make your own?  Choose your own colors, patterns and size?  Well, let me share a little secret with you...

You can!

I've already shared a video showing how to make a template with an electronic die cutter, but what about those who don't have one, or don't want to spend the time carefully arranging circles?  Well, you can free hand the design if you are so inclined, but I find an easy way to design is by using stamps.

Today I'm going to be using the new Metallic Inspirations. I love how thin they are! Perfect for that extra bling without the extra bulk!

What you need:
Metallic Inspirations
Simple Stamp
Staz-on ink
Acetate
Vinyl (or heat transfer tape)
Strong Liquid Glue

*when choosing stamps to use, keep these two things in mind: 1) keep it simple. The size of the Metallic Inspirations or Jeweled Inspirations will determine how detailed you can go. The larger the stone, the less detail you can make. 2) you don't have to use the entire image of any one stamp, and you can combine stamps together to get a whole new look. Try it!

Step 1: Using Staz-on ink, stamp your image onto a piece of acetate.

Step 2: Carefully arrange your Metallic Inspirations on your stamped design. Remember that the stamp is just a guide line. You don't have to follow it exactly. I decided not to do the flower or the leaves on this image.

*I have found that a good pair of tweezers is very helpful for this!*

*If you have heat transfer tape, go ahead and use that, but since I don't, I use what I have around... scraps of vinyl. (contact paper would probably work to, although I haven't actually tried it.)*

Step 3: Without moving any of the Metallic Inspirations, press the sticky side of the vinyl on top of your design. Run your finger over the design to make sure all your Metallic Inspirations are firmly sticking to your vinyl.

Step 4: Flip your design over and slowly peel away the acetate. Start at one corner and slowly work the acetate off. Watch to make sure all the Metallic Inspirations are staying firmly stuck in place on the vinyl.

*If you are using heat transfer tape, simply iron on to your project.... DON'T iron if you are using vinyl!)*

Step 5: Put a small dot of a strong liquid glue on the back of each Metallic Inspirations. (I like to use Glossy Accents because it works well with both the paper and the metal)

Step 6: Lay your design (glue side down) onto your project. Run your finger over the design to ensure all the Metallic Inspirations are attached.

Step 7: Allow to dry. (this may take a while depending on which glue you use, and what you are gluing your design to. Don't rush it.)

Step 8: When all the glue is dry, slowly peel off the vinyl starting at one corner and working your way across. Your custom design is now successfully transferred!

Enjoy!

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, the DT member who was supposed to post today has not been feeling well, so I said I would take the day....

I thought I would share with you a video I posted on YouTube a while ago... It might give you some ideas for what you can do with the new Metallic Inspirations and Jeweled Inspirations. I use the Cricut and Gypsy to make my rhinestone templates because that is what I have, I'll share some other techniques soon.

don't forget you can order your Jeweled Inspirations and Metallic Inspirations HERE.

Space Card - Kianel

Hello everybody!
Kianel here with you today showing you a card i made using the gorgeous CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS paints and rhinestones. Aren't these just amazing??? oh, yesssss!
I made this  card for the new TOMIC challenge. I used brand new Magnolia stamps, Magnolia paper, old book page, CLD dies, flowers and lace. I coloured my images with a mix of distress inks and CI paints "sunshine" "buttercup" "mango" "garnet". The "silver frost" colour is just perfect for the space theme. I also used the brand new stones from CI "Jeweled inspirations" SS20, SS30, SS34 in clear and the "metallic inspirations" aquamarine in 2 sizes. Those are absolut perfect details on any creation you will be making.

Hope you will like it and forget to pop by every sunday to join our weekly challenge! Love from France, Kianel.

hot fix...

Hello everyone!

After my announcement of the new Metallic Inspirations and Jeweled Inspirations, I had several people ask what "hot fix" means...

Both the Metallic and Jeweled Inspirations are hot fix. This means that they have a heat activated glue on the back side. This makes setting them on both paper and fabric a breeze!

You will need a rhinestone heat setting tool. There are many different styles and brands of these tools, but you can get them for around $10 at Michaels or JoAnns. (cheaper if you coupon!)  They are often located with the fabric paints, iron ons, and other t-shirt decorating stuff.

Your tool should come with instructions, but it is really simple!  Let your heat tool warm up (the metal rod will be very hot, so be careful!)

Now place your Metallic Inspirations or Jeweled Inspirations where you want them and press the top with the heat tool... It doesn't take long for the glue to be activated, and once cool, it is set!

Easy!

I hope you are as excited as I am for these!
