Back 2 School Card

Hi CIP friends!  I have a Back to School card for you today, that goes along with the current challenge.  The paints are used on the arrow and book, as well as around the image.  (Winter Frost, Denim, Garnet, and Chocolate).  Each of these items can be found in the Creative Inspirations Paint store.  (image used is School Boy by Tiddly Inks)

Gift Card Holder

Hello!

Shea here with Glitter and Bonbons to show you a cute gift card holder I made for my son's birthday earlier this week.  He gets such a kick out of receiving handmade goodies from his mom.

I cut it with my Silhouette Cameo, the template of which included the shapes for the paper and the stars as well as the basic holder itself.  It even has a little hidden tab to keep it closed.

I stamped the striped paper with little Antique Silver stars and painted the larger red stars with Garnet, then I glittered some of them with Deliquesce Super Sparkle Red and popped up the largest star.  Some red Jeweled Inspirations finished them off.

Bella ornate Birdcage Card

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a card I created for Creative Inspiration Paints using the Beautiful Fine Black embossing Powder & Winter Frost Paint. 

On my CottageCutz fancy Ornate Birdcage I just dabbed the glue on the top and poured the fine black embossing powder over it, and heated it up. I did this a couple of times to give it the look it has. Love the shiny :)

For the Flowers I just dabbed some of the winter frost paint on them, to give some beautiful shimmer. Always love that on my cards.

I also used the Bella Spring corner, its another CottageCutz die for my card. I love the look it gives, its like another layer, but you are still able to see the darling dp i used. Ribbon and flowers are both from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

First ever altered wood tile project

Good Morning Friends,

I am doing an extra Design team post today.  I have never made an altered wood tile project before so this is my first ever. It was so fun I loved using the one part UV resin that we carry called Resinesence. There is a link below for you to go buy some and start making your own altered wood tile art.

This was the easy part. I glued the image on the tile, let it dry. then I  poured the resin on top, I pulled it to the edges with a toothpick and  let it dry and cure in the sun for 1 hour-- it was ready.  I painted the edges with shimmering raw sienna and then added the jewelry findings.

All Boxed Up.

Hi everyone I am back on this totally hot Thursday in Sunny Florida.  You would think after 20 years I would be used to this weather but nope... Anyhoo today I am sharing a book box well I should say a hidden compartment book box because when you open it up there is a compartment you can use to store items in.

 I applied gesso and painted and sort of smeared the paint with my fingers along different parts of the paper

 I applied the gold paint to the leaves to add some shine and color to them

It is hard to tell but I also painted the mesh ribbon with some paint to make it match the colors I chose to use.  I love how it all turned out and I hope everyone enjoyed my project for today.

Inspired By: Back To School

Hi CIP fans! Dana here today sharing a card for the Inspired By: Back to School challenge theme this week. I layered several patterned papers that reminded me of my own school days onto the base of my card. I used the Genuinely Jane Stamp by 100 Proof Press with some Onyx paint to add the image of the girl to my card.

I stamped onto a vintage book page and the text from the other side of the page acted as an embossed resist. I'm quite happy with that little surprise! The Onyx paint adds a fantastic subtle shimmer to the image. I finished off my card with a bright yellow bow.

Last Days of Summer

Hello!

Shea here with Glitter and Bonbons to show you a card that I made for our current challenge Inspired By: "Back to School."  Except I have no one in my world who is going back to school, so I made a fall-themed card instead, and one clear indicator of fall is the apple tree full of ripe apples.

The days are still warm, the sun is still shining, there's still time to play on the tire swing but summer is starting to wind down.

I embossed the edges of the red base layer with Deliquesce White embossing powder and used a popped up die cut frame to frame the image.

I painted the leafy part of the tree with Green Olive and Evergreen, and the apples with Garnet.  Then I covered them with Glossy Accents.  Because shiny apples are the most appetizing.

I used chalks to color in the background.

Some ribbon and an apple-shaped brad finish things off.

 
A little stamping on the inside, and this card was finished.

Time 4 Art - A wooden ATC

I don't know about you all, but I personally believe that there should be a specific time of day where we all get time to create. :) I think there should be a time of day designated for art. Let's make it a requirement! Wouldn't that be fun? I would love to know that I could get that time in every day. Unfortunately, this is not the case, but hey, I can dream, right? :) 

Since that won't happen, I can still use what little time I have to make time related projects such as the one I have to share with you today. Using a piece of wood for my canvas, and some Creative Inspirations Paints, I made this wooden ATC. At least that is what I am calling it. :) 

I first primed the wood piece with gesso, and then stamped over it with a number stamp by Tim Holtz. Beige and Autumn Wheat paints were used to paint over the stamped image. Since CI Paints are transparent, you can still see the stamp beneath the paints. You can create some great backgrounds this way. 

The frame in the center is an older Making Memories frame given to me by my friend Susan for this project. (We were creating together.) It didn't look right clear, so I colored it using Burnt Sienna before adhering it over an old book page piece I stamped the clock on. 

To finish the wood card, I added a bit more stamping and some edging using a pen. The paints look great on so many different surfaces. That's one of the best things about CI Paints. You can get two completely separate looks depending on whether you prime the surface or not. The sky is the limit! 

I am definitely going to try this same stamping and then painting over with CI Paints on unprimed wood next. Don't worry, I will share with you

fun foam painting...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Can you believe that summer is nearing it's end? Crazy!  For me, that means it is blackberry season. So, I currently look like I have been wrestling cats... Those bushes eat me alive! 

homemade blackberry chocolate chip ice cream is on the menu tomorrow though!!!!

I guess you could say the berries have me in a purple sort of mood... as you will see from both paint and my nails. :)

Anyway...

I was going to share one tutorial, but last minute (literally!) I changed my mind... I wasn't sure if I would bore you all if I shared a tutorial that was so photo heavy it could sink a ship. LOL! 

So, I threw together something different to share... I hope you like!

Step 1: Working on a piece of craft foam (you know, the really cheap "fun foam" sheets they sell for kid crafts), use a brayer to spread a layer of white acrylic paint, then add a couple drops of Distress Reinker.  

Brayer the ink in... you can mix it in as little or as much as you want. 

Step 2: Add some splashes of Creative Inspirations Paint for a pop of color and shimmer.  

Step 3: Place a piece of cardstock over your paint and press & smoosh around. Move it around to swirl the paint into random patterns.

Step 4: Carefully pull off the card stock. You can dry it with a heat gun and press it back onto the paint in different areas if you want to add more layers, or you can leave it as is.

Step 5: Since we colored the paint with Distress Reinkers, it will react with water... so, go ahead and flick some water at it and you can get some fabulous watermarks!

 Step 6: To stamp on the acrylic paint, use a permanent ink like StazOn or Ranger Archival.
