Little Candle

Welcome to December! I hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely Thanksgiving, and those who don't just had a nice, restful Thursday last week.

Today, in keeping with this week's challenge to do anything but a card, I have a little candle that I thought I might send to my mom. I followed the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers, mainly to make sure I hadn't forgotten how to do this technique! It isn't hard at all.
I used a Unity stamp and three colours of CI Paints: Garnet, Tickled Pink and Magenta.Give it a shot. It's fun to do and they make great little gifts, especially wrapped in a bit of tulle and tied with a bow.

If I Had a Flower

Good morning, everybody! I hope this chilly Thursday finds you well.

I've been painting paper flowers - and they weren't even white!! Now, we all know we can paint white flowers any colour we choose, but did you know that you can paint other colours, too? I didn't have any purple flowers. I didn't have any white flowers. I did have some kind of greyish flowers. They're purple now!
I really like mixing colours, mainly because it's fun, so I used several shades of purple. I used Amethyst and Light Purple as a base coat. Over the top, I used Royal Purple and Plum. Not only did using that much paint allow me to get such a wonderful depth of colour, it also gave the paper flowers much more body than they had to begin with, which let me shape them, rather than leaving them flat.

Once the flowers were shaped and attached to the card, I added in a Clear Jeweled Inspirations gem to each flower.

By The Light of The Silvery Moon...

Good morning everyone, Carole here today! About that title...my 17yo daughter made do it! She said the moon needed to be silver, so my black cat appears before an Antique Silver moon.

Here's a close-up of the moon. Sometimes it's really hard to capture in a photograph just how prettily the paints sparkle.I'm keeping it simple today because my middle daughter turns 15 as of 1:52am! Hope everyone has a fabulous day.

A Sympathy Card

Good morning everyone. Carole here. I hope you have all survived the earthquakes and hurricane unscathed. I have a card to share today that was made for a close friend whose husband passed away on Thursday after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

When I was choosing colours for my card, I realized that I didn't have the colour I wanted for my flowers, so I mixed Blush and Pumpkin to get a colour that more closely matched my patterned paper. Peach might have done quite nicely, but I don't have it, and anyway, it's fun to mix colours and see what you come up with. It makes your Creative Inspirations Paints that much more versatile.
I also used a hint of Sunshine for the pistol & stamens, as well as Mint for the leaves and stems. There is just enough shimmer to add elegance without overwhelming a sympathy card.
