A Grungy Butterfly

Hi friends! I don't know about you, but this week is going to be super busy for my family! Since Thanksgiving is on Thursday, we will be doing some traveling the day before to go see my fiance's family in Ohio. I always look forward to these trips! Since this week is going to be busy, I was able to get some projects done this weekend, and today's project is one of them. I am so pleased with the way this turned out. I can't wait to share it with my LSS, where it will be displayed. :)

I decided to go grungy for this canvas, with lots of textures, including fabric, metal, pastes and of course, Creative Inspirations Paint on this...

The canvas was covered with Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements Fabric. I used some CI Paints in Antique Gold and Antique Copper on the sides and front. Using a stencil and some Viva Decor Ferro in Graphite, I added the circles to the corners and sides. My butterfly is a page from the Genuinely Jane Studios Butterfly Album that I used more Graphite Ferro on using a Brick Stencil. I painted the empty spaces in the butterfly and it's sides using Creative Inspirations Onyx Paint. I added Antique Silver to each brick and dry brushed more Onyx back over the bricks for an aged look.

I've been completely in love with the Patina look, and using some Sea Foam over the Antique Gold, I was able to create a slight faux patina look. It isn't perfect, but it looks fine for what I was going for. You can see it better in the photo below:

To add to the grunge look, I threw on some gears and the key hole to the butterfly. I brushed Onyx over them as well.

I hope you've found inspiration in my canvas today!

Enjoy your week and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Art Journal - Deep Blue Sea

Hi CIP followers!  I'm sharing an art journal page with you today where I've used lots of shimmery CIP colors with my doodles.  The Rose Quartz (between lettering), Sea Foam (between lettering), and Sapphire (background) have all been thinned with water for more of a water color effect.  The other paints I've used in this project are Blue Ice, Copper, Antique Copper, Antique Gold, Buttercup and Garnet.  Each of these items can be found in the Creative Inspirations Paint store.
Here is a better look at the Buttercup tail and background colors:

Canvas + CI Paints = Timeless

As you all know, I love creating with canvas... I could work with nothing but various size canvases and be completely happy. Yesterday, I pulled out some printed canvas that I had purchased at Michaels a while back and a 6x6 canvas along with my Creative Inspirations Paints and got to work.

I used a mixture of Beige, Carmel and Antique Copper paints on the canvas page with the clock print. I used a fabric medium with the paints so that they would blend into the canvas rather than only sit on top of it. This was the first time I tried this with the CI Paints. It worked rather well. I sealed it all with a matte medium and Mod Podge.

I had some foil tape left over from a previous project that was embossed with clocks... this I adhered with modeling paste to the front, and another to one side of the canvas. Tissue paper, joint tape and more modeling paste was added to the other sides of the canvas for texture. For the first time, I did not add any stamping to a canvas. I may go back and change this, but for now I like how it looks. More Antique Copper was added to the sides and front embossed clock. After it dried, I went over the raised portions of the front and sides of the canvas with some Antique Gold using my finger. When you look at the canvas from any side it has that fantastic shimmer that we all love so much with the paints.

In the close ups above, you can see the texture that the embossed foil tape, modeling paste, tissue paper and joint tape created. I find it fun to finish the sides of my canvas as though they are the center of the piece themselves. I like it when you can look at a project from any side and see lots of detail. Something to think about the next time you create a canvas piece. :)

And as always, the colors I used in my piece...

Wishing you a wonderful day full of creativity and messy hands!!

Always Be Grateful

Good morning and Happy Monday fellow paint lovers!  Emily here today with a canvas I created using lots of beautiful Creative Inspirations Paints.

Recently, I have been inspired by all of the fall leaves and colors I am surrounded by on a daily basis when I walk to work. Thanksgiving is also coming up very soon, so many have been posting and sharing what they are grateful for this month. The two inspirations combined equal today's canvas.

Nine different paints were used from CIP in this canvas. Not only did I use the paints on the flowers, but I also used them on the canvas, the glass beads gel and a small amount on the wooden letters.

As you can see, the message of the canvas is clear. It is a nice fit for this time of year. I currently have this piece hanging in the hallway surrounded by family photos. It reminds us to be grateful for who and what we have. :)

You can see the shimmer of the paints in these various close up shots. When you look at the canvas from different angles you can see the different colors I used.

Below are the Creative Inspirations Paints used in my canvas today.

Other supplies used: canvas, Bo Bunny Khaki Dot cardstock, Prima Flowers, Wood Veneer Alpha (Studio Calico) Liquitex Glass Beads Gel, Acrylic paint , Distress Ink, Prima Stamps, Tim Holtz Stamps, StazOn Ink,

Thank you for stopping by today! Remember to join Jessica for our Weekly Inspired By Challenge! This weeks is Inspired by: Turkey Turkey!! So let us see those Thanksgiving or Turkey inspired projects!!

Mini Album and Birthday SALE

Creative Inspirations Paint is celebrating their birthday, and there will be a SALE, with 10% off all products for the whole of August.  If you need to re-stock some of your paints, or try them for the first time, now is the time to do so....
This week for Creative Inspirations Paint I have created a mini album from toilet roll holders.  The mini album fits neatly into a soap box which I altered, and can be viewed at the bottom of this post.
Flower and leaf elements were coloured using Creative Inspirations Paint, in the colours of Olive Green, Antique Gold, Blush, and TuTu Pink.
The shimmer of the paints is just beautiful, and even more so in 'real'.
The main cover flower, has been painted using TuTu Pink and brushed with Blush, then further highlighted with Resplendence Angel Dust.  My gosh, the glimmer of the paint and Angel Dust is just beautiful...
The box (old soap box originally), hosts 3 hand-made pencils created from kitchen skewers and painted with Creative Inspirations Paint - Green Olive, TuTu Pink and Gold.
The paints worked so well in creating real pencils - not that they draw!!

Make a Wish, They Do Come True

This fortnights card, was created for a very special friend, about to embark on the venture of a lifetime, with moving to USA to broaden her areas of study.  I wanted to make a card which is my interpretation of dreams coming true for her - an of course a coat of Creative Inspiration Paints was a 'must'.

The beautiful Prima Marketing 'Fairy Belle' 6' X 6" pad was used to create this card, and every component was covered in a generous coat of Creative Inspiration Paint. The ballerina fairy, and butterflies were painted with Fairy Dust - seemed most appropriate and left the most glorious touch to the image/s. 'Mellow Yellow' was applied to the 'yellow' butterfly on the right.

The base of the card was created using the Cheery Lynn Designs, French Flair Classic Series, and then topped with the Mini Pearl French Flair.  Also, the foliage (Dimensional Leaves and Olive Branches) were painted with several coats of 'Green Olive' Paint, as well as, 'Evergreen' to create a depth of shadow on one edge.

Each of the flowers was touched with 'Gold', just highlighting each of the petals.
The Imaginarium Designs Chipboard - 3" X 2" Swirly Frame (IDFR0004) was painted using Antique Gold, in a haphazard manner, leaving patches with no paint.  A light sponge of 'Gold' Creative Inspirations Paint was applied over the entire frame leaving a gorgeous, two-toned -gold, with amazing shimmer.

The challenge theme on the Creative Inspirations Blog is Mother's Day this week, and can be found 'Here'. Each month, one person will win 5 jars of paint in the colours of their choice. There is a top 3 each week, and a winner chosen randomly from all those who have participated that month, so make sure to join in on our challenges each week!

A Book of Memories

Hi Everyone,
I'm very excited to be part of the Design Team for Creative Inspiration Paints! For my first post I created a 'Memory Book' using a variety of elements to host the gorgeous CI paints.  This book is a real book, once read by many, so with a little TLC (perhaps some would say sacrilege) it
has now been altered in a major way.
Every element on my book has been painted.  I used 'Winter Frost' as the cover base.  'Winter Frost' is a brilliant colour to use over 'any' colour - it simply highlights in a magical manner.  The page edges are coloured using 'Antique Gold', giving that old bible appearance. The chipboard pieces by Imaginarium Designs came up a treat using the 'Gold' CI Paint - the shimmer is amazing and when in the right light it looks like millions of beautiful diamonds.
The flowers have been washed in a mixture of 'Fairy Dust', 'Pink Highlights' with touches of 'Gold' thrown in.  The large rose, was painted in 'TuTu Pink', and
Beige', then a watered down mixture of 'Winter Frost', and then 'Fairy Dust' applied.  All foilage was painted with 'Green Olive'.  I used a variety of colours of cardstock for the leaves, so the paint gave a different depth with each colour.  Very pretty!
Every die-cut element was cut from 'White' cardstock, and coloured using various coloured paints.
Inside Cover
The paper flowers (below) came up a treat and look at all that pretty shimmer!  I used paper flowers on the inside of the book, due to them laying flat, therefore they will not get damaged when the book is closed.

Till next time

Peony Card

Hello Everyone! Carla here today. Hope your week is going well... we're halfway through the week! Today's project is a Peony card, I was feeling floral again... must be all the snow :)

To color in the blue background on the stamped image, I used Seafoam Creative Inspirations Paint. It is a very cool effect to have the shimmery "water" against the watercolored flowers... almost looks like they are floating on a pond! I used Onyx and Antique Gold to highlight the centres of the flowers.

For the background on the card base, I used a large stamp, inked with Fairy Dust to stamp a subtle sheen and add a little interest without overpowering the inage stamp. It's quite stunning in real life. Here's a close up of the details and shine!

Hope you enjoyed today's project!

Cheers,
Carla
