Time 4 Art - A wooden ATC

I don't know about you all, but I personally believe that there should be a specific time of day where we all get time to create. :) I think there should be a time of day designated for art. Let's make it a requirement! Wouldn't that be fun? I would love to know that I could get that time in every day. Unfortunately, this is not the case, but hey, I can dream, right? :)

Since that won't happen, I can still use what little time I have to make time related projects such as the one I have to share with you today. Using a piece of wood for my canvas, and some Creative Inspirations Paints, I made this wooden ATC. At least that is what I am calling it. :)

I first primed the wood piece with gesso, and then stamped over it with a number stamp by Tim Holtz. Beige and Autumn Wheat paints were used to paint over the stamped image. Since CI Paints are transparent, you can still see the stamp beneath the paints. You can create some great backgrounds this way.

The frame in the center is an older Making Memories frame given to me by my friend Susan for this project. (We were creating together.) It didn't look right clear, so I colored it using Burnt Sienna before adhering it over an old book page piece I stamped the clock on.

To finish the wood card, I added a bit more stamping and some edging using a pen. The paints look great on so many different surfaces. That's one of the best things about CI Paints. You can get two completely separate looks depending on whether you prime the surface or not. The sky is the limit!

I am definitely going to try this same stamping and then painting over with CI Paints on unprimed wood next. Don't worry, I will share with you

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Let Your Dreams Fly - Art Journal Page

Hello my creative friends! Today I have a journal page I quickly made using a wooden dragonfly, oil pastels, watercolor crayons and lots of Creative Inspirations Paint and some Jeweled Inspirations. To be honest, I have been out of town all weekend, so I created this on the road. I made sure to pack up my CI Paints and some other coloring tools along with my art journals. This isn't my best, but it works.

I was really going for a pond with a dragonfly flying overhead. We often see lavender/purple flowers (which I really think are weeds) near ponds where we live. I wanted to include them on my page for more color.

In my grassy parts I used Sage, Green Olive and Evergreen paints. Sapphire, Turquoise and Tanzanite were used on the water, while Beige was used on the sand/dirt around the pond. All of the paints mixed in the various areas add a wonderful shimmer to the entire page.

My dragonfly is a wooden one that was made by Genuinely Jane Studios for a Missouri LSS in the Columbia area. I covered it in tissue tape and colored it with Rose Quartz and Tickled Pink on the wings and some more Turquoise and Green Olive on the body. It really shimmers in the light. I love it!

My flowers have Clear Jeweled Inspirations for the centers with some Lavender paint accented petals.

I will probably work on some more pages tonight using some other colors of CI Paints.   I can't wait to play some more!

Once we are back in Missouri this week and not on the road I will get more regular play time in and not just in a journal.

See you soon!

Sunny Little Easel Card

Hi CIP followers!  I've been busy water coloring and painting again with this little congratulations easel card.  The digi image is 'Sunny' from Lacy Sunshine, and I thought the paper was a good match.  The shimmery CI paints that I've used are Beige, Buttercup, and Chocolate.  Each of these items can be found in the Creative Inspirations Paint store.

Here is a closer look at the CIP products that I've used:

Thanks so much for stopping by, and enjoy your day!

Canvas + CI Paints = Timeless

As you all know, I love creating with canvas... I could work with nothing but various size canvases and be completely happy. Yesterday, I pulled out some printed canvas that I had purchased at Michaels a while back and a 6x6 canvas along with my Creative Inspirations Paints and got to work.

I used a mixture of Beige, Carmel and Antique Copper paints on the canvas page with the clock print. I used a fabric medium with the paints so that they would blend into the canvas rather than only sit on top of it. This was the first time I tried this with the CI Paints. It worked rather well. I sealed it all with a matte medium and Mod Podge.

I had some foil tape left over from a previous project that was embossed with clocks... this I adhered with modeling paste to the front, and another to one side of the canvas. Tissue paper, joint tape and more modeling paste was added to the other sides of the canvas for texture. For the first time, I did not add any stamping to a canvas. I may go back and change this, but for now I like how it looks. More Antique Copper was added to the sides and front embossed clock. After it dried, I went over the raised portions of the front and sides of the canvas with some Antique Gold using my finger. When you look at the canvas from any side it has that fantastic shimmer that we all love so much with the paints.

In the close ups above, you can see the texture that the embossed foil tape, modeling paste, tissue paper and joint tape created. I find it fun to finish the sides of my canvas as though they are the center of the piece themselves. I like it when you can look at a project from any side and see lots of detail. Something to think about the next time you create a canvas piece. :)

And as always, the colors I used in my piece...

Wishing you a wonderful day full of creativity and messy hands!!

A Marbled Card using CI Paints

Hello again friends! Emily here with another card to share with you that I made using some Creative Inspirations Paints. For today's card I used a marbling technique that our tutorial queen, Kassi shared with us. I am in LOVE with this technique!

Here is the original video:

Here is the final card...

For my card and the marbling, I used Autumn Wheat and Carmel CI Paints with some Vintage Photo Distress Stain. You can also use the Vintage Photo Distress Ink if you don't have the stains. Kassi uses Distress Ink in her tutorial video. I love the final result you get with this technique! It looks so good!

Here are some close ups of the card...

I embossed the sentiment with Deliquesce Metallic Copper embossing powder. It really went well together with the other paints used in the card. I added some Beige and Antique Copper paints to some Prima flowers for added color.

Below are the CI Paints and products used....

I hope you've enjoyed my projects the past two days! I will see you on Monday with another project!!

Listen to your Heart... use CI Paints! ;)

Hooray, it's Friday! I'm so happy that the weekend is finally here! Today I have a tag to share with you that I created for a banner setup I put together to hold cards and tags in our house. All it consists of is a long piece of twine with miniature clothes hangers along it to display the cards and tags. I change out the cards and tags depending on the time of the year and seasons. It is really working out well and is one of our favorite spots in the house. :)

Believe it or not, there are quite a few CI Paints on this little tag. A lot of colors were used on the background of the tag which I first covered with Mod Podge and various pieces of old ledger pages. After the pieces had dried I applied Carmel, Blush, Rose Quartz Tickled Pink and some Beige paints. The girl was cut out out from a card I had received in a scrapbook kit years ago that I saved in hopes I would some day use. I finally did! I used Fairy Dust on her crown, Sea Foam and Coal on her eyes, and some Autumn Wheat on her wings. Beige and Antique copper were used on the girl's dress. After all of the paints had dried, I used a stencil and some Light Modeling paste to make the hearts which I covered in Deliquesce Super Sparkle Pink and then heat gunned. As a final step, I used my sketch pen to trace around the girl, hearts and sticker phrase.

Look at all of the sparkle and glimmer of the Deliquesce on the hearts! I love it!

You can see some more of the shimmer of the background and her dress here.

Once again, I have a collage of all of the Creative Inspirations Paint products used in my project today.

I hope you have enjoyed my tag today. I will see you soon!

A Joyful Canvas

Good morning and Happy Christmas Eve to everyone! I hope you are all ready for tomorrow and are able to spend some quality time with your loved ones and friends.

I wanted to make today's post quick since everyone is preparing for the big day tomorrow, or already in the middle of some festivities!

Today's project is a canvas I made for my boyfriends mom, Joy. She loves Christmas, and has one of the most beautifully decorated houses I have ever seen! Since her name is Joy and ornaments and decorations with the word Joy are in abundance this time of year, she has a tree decorated entirely with Joy ornaments. Also, there are various pieces of art around the home that have the words Joy on them. Which is why I made this canvas. The Joy isn't just the word joy, it is Joyeux Noel. We don't remember her having many French phrases around the house, so I thought this would be cute.

As you can see it has lots of Creative Inspirations Paint on it. The background, tree, tree trunk, and tree top are covered in CIP goodies! There are even some jewels on the Joyeux Noel.

I used the following paints and jeweled inspirations on the canvas:

Thank you so so much for stopping in today from your busy schedule!! I will see you again after the New Year!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

If you would like to get some paints before the start of the new year, remember that everything in the CIP store is 10% off!!!

Glitz'n Up w/CIP's Photo Tag & Video

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a Photo Tag Card that I made using Creative Inspiration Paints. I made this large Photo Tag to put in a Large Photo Album I'm in the process of making. I thought it would be perfect to hold several photo's.

Here is the inside, there is enough room for 2 photo's in there. I did use the Beige CIP's for the frame inside. I also distressed using tan and Beige on the layers.

On the front, I used CIP's on the CottageCutz Oval Doily & Frame, the dp layer, all the lace, and the metal frame. I used some beautiful RRR Silk to make my bows, and added some Latte buttons.

I did a video as well for the metal tag, to show you how I made it look this way. Its super fun to use these shimmery paints, and I LOVE all the colors Creative Inspiration Paints carries.

My Video on the Metal Tag

Thank you for looking and have a lovely day!!!
Hugs to all,
Cheryl
