I have just finished taking an on-line class on using gesso in the Art Studio from Kate Koch of SNR (Scrapbook News and Review) Magazine. There was lots and lots of information. One thing that really caught my attention was that in several demonstrations in the class, Kate used Creative Inspirations paints. That gave me ideas. I went digging through my ancient stash and came across a kit for a ribbon album. I never made it because the cover and chipboard embellishments were just not me. They were bright, shiny, and very flat looking. They looked very much like a kid's coloring book.

Before gesso and CI paints |
With the class behind me, I thought that perhaps some gesso techniques and a little CI paint might do the trick. Oh yes, the Club Scrap Paper didn't hurt either. I recovered the cover with the CS cardstock and then I totally redid the letters and chipboard flowers. The gesso covered up the printed color and added texture. The CI Paints added the classy shimmer instead of the gaudy glare. The letters were done in tutu pink. The textured flowers are amethyst and tickled pink with copper centers. I used mint for the leaves. For the "2" I added Resplendence Burgundy glitter to the wet gesso. Even the ribbon, which came from my ribbon stash benefitted from CI paints. I painted over the white butterflies with tutu pink.
My sweet grandaughter will be turning 2 in about a week and a half. I'm giving this album to her Mommy to keep pictures in from her celebration.

Fabulous way to transform items that would have sat in your stash! I use Gesso to cover up and paint over as well. Lovely job you did! :) hugs, Kimberly
